Head Coach - Ginna Lewing
This summer marks Head Coach Ginna’s tenth season as a swim coach for Brookside. A native of Yardley, she joined the Brookside Swim Team at the age of seven and has proven herself invaluable to the Bullfrogs every since. She swam for the team through high school breaking many Brookside records from early-on in her swimming career. Incidentally, her brother, Jake, who also swam for the Brookside team, joined the coaching staff alongside Ginna four years ago. As a youth, Ginna spent winter seasons swimming for the NRG swim club, and as a teenager, she swam for four years on the Pennsbury High School team. In addition to a love of swimming, Ginna has a passion for soccer. While a student at Pennsbury High School, Ginna led the girl’s varsity soccer team to the 1999 state title and to a state runner-up spot in 2000. In 2005 she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management from the University of Delaware. During her undergraduate years, she was a Division I standout for the UD Blue Hens Women’s Soccer Team where she was awarded All-American East honors and All-CAA (Colonial Athletic Association) honors, earned a spot on the America East All-Tournament Team in 2001 and on the All-CAA first team in 2003, and was named UD’s Alumni Association Most Valuable Player in 2003. Continuing her studies at UD, she completed her Master’s degree in Education in 2007. As a graduate student, Ginna joined the Blue Hens Women’s Soccer coaching staff were she will begin her seventh season as an assistant coach in the fall. Brookside has been Ginna’s “home away from home” ever since she joined the swim team in 1990. As a coach, her dedication to instilling not just the necessary skills in her swimmers but also the important values of swimming with heart, enthusiasm, and good sportsmanship is truly inspiring.

Head Coach - Andy Newhall
Head Coach Andy has been coaching for the Brookside Bullfrogs for two and a half seasons. A competitive swimmer himself, Andy has many years of swim team experience under his belt. Growing up in Bucks County, he swam for Lower Makefield Township (LMT) and Pennsbury Aquatics Club (PAC) during which time he broke many of the Lower Bucks Swim League records, competed in the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) state championships, was a 4-time All District swimmer as well as a 4-time Colonial Athletic Association conference finals swimmer, and qualified for the USA Middle Atlantic Zone team. Andy attended Drexel University where he was a member of the Division I National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) squad that earned two 4th place finishes in the competitive Colonial Athletic Association Conference. After graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in English, Andy went on to acquire his American Swimming Coaches Association (ASCA) Level II certification and his USA Swimming Coach certification. He has coached for PAC for three seasons, where he led the boy’s squad to fifth and sixth place in the Suburban Aquatic League Finishes (out of 22 SAL teams), and was named PAC’s Head Coach in 2009. He was drawn to the summer coaching opportunity at Brookside, because he enjoys working with a swim team that exercises and cherishes the virtues of sportsmanship, dedication, hard work, competition, and self-confidence.

Assistant Coach - Jake Lewing
2010 will be Coach Jake’s forth year on the Brookside coaching staff, however he has a long history with the Bullfrogs. Starting at age seven, Jake became a “Brookie” swimmer, and he still holds six records in the 14 and under age group! He also swam for the Tri-Hampton YMCA and Pennsbury High School. In the fall Jake will start his senior year at Denison University where he is earning a degree in Philosophy, Political Science, and Economics. He has been on the DU swim team since his freshman year and has qualified for the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championships the past three seasons in both the Individual Medley and Breaststroke events. During his time at Denison, he broke the school 200 Breaststroke record and was named NCAA All-American seven times. This past 2009-10 swim season was especially rewarding for Jake. He finished fourth in the 200 Individual Medley (IM) at the NCAA’s, and he posted individual victories in the 200 Breaststroke and the 200 IM at the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) championships were he won the coveted NCAC Swimmer of the Year award. Jake’s expertise, high energy, and enthusiasm for swimming embody what the Bullfrogs endearingly refer to as the “Brookside spirit.” He is a valued member of the Brookside Swim Team staff.
